i know...but by experince I've learned to ditch these cheap buffers and go with the better ones.

Actually...I'll be cleaning out my garage next week-end. Anybody want cheap buffers? I've got 4 of them :lol:

Are there any cordless buffers out there that are any good?

I find myself getting too easily tangled up in cables & crap, s'why I bought the cordless tire inflator that I carry with me in my trunk. No cord dangling out of the lighter socket = me not falling on my arse <_<

I have the cordless simoniz one, small 4" I think. Its junk, I use it to apply wax, and thats about it, wouldnt bother to use it to remove swrils or anything like that.

I lent it to my neighboor and he brought it back pretty quick 'better to do it by hand' :lol:

Yep, I've got it to, same thing. Great to quickly apply wax, but useless for anything else. I've teamed it with a Meguiar's pad (http://www.meguiarsdirect.com/product_de...+FINISH+65) because the ones that come with it are crap... Works great for getting a nice even coat of wax on the surface. You could also get pads from http://www.eshine.ca that will work with it. :)

I was at Walmart today in Ogdensburg, NY. I hadn't seen it here yet, but in the States, Meguiar's sells Swirl X. It is a micro abrasive polish that can be used by hand or by orbital buffer. It is designed specifically for removing swirls. It's about $8 a bottle over there.

Just an FYI for all who've been keeping up on this thread. I have the crapper 8" simoniz and when I was getting my stuff out to wax the car today I thought I'd check it out. It has an awe inspiring 0.46Amps of fury!

so.. ive been trying to remove swirl marks by hand..

ive used Mequiars Swirl Remover and ScratchX 2.0

epic fail. didnt do a damned thing :(

Compound that S**t. But seroiously try to find Meguair's Medium Cut or Diamond Cut 2.0
The other waxes are purely for removing clearcoat scratches that are about 4500+ Grit. You want something that will take care of 1500+ grit.
Have fun.
After the compound then polish it.

I've never seen anybody completely remove swirl marks by hand, Im convinced it cant be done. On top of the product you use, the type of application pad you are using plays a huge role also.

This is a before pic of a jetta I did:



This is after using wolfgang 3.0 swirl remover, which is a 2000 grit compound. I also used a fairly aggresive pad, a 'Yellow' cutting pad from eshine.ca.



You will NOT get these results by hand.

Hit up eshine.ca and take a look at some of the buffers they have. The porter cable is an excellent unit.

I never said a proper DIY detailing was cheap. :D

Thats the reason a lot of people willl pay someone to do it. After adding all the things like Tire shine, Paint sealant, Wax, clay bars, buffers, buffing pads, car soap, Mits and sponges, it adds up pretty quick.
