Diablosport For Focus Svt
#1
I have purchased this year a Diablosport ECU programmer for Focus SVT , I have installed the performance program and everything seems ok . I feel more low end torque and the fuel consumption went up a little .I plan on going to the track next sunday and then , to a dyno on May 23rd . Now , I have three questions :

1. Has anybody installed this program on their cars before , what do you think about it , any suggestions and/or advice ?

2. The manufacturer recommends dyno and air/fuel mix check after installing the performance program ? Would it be safe to go on track before checking the A/F mix ? Judging by the color of the spark plugs , the mix doesn't look too lean

3. If I do the dyno and the A/F adjustment and then later I want to go back to the factory program for an E-test let's say , will the programmer remember the performance program along with the A/F mod , or that will have to be done all over again after going back to the performance program ?
Any feedback will be greatly appreciated .
Thank you

I'm just guessing here, but you may be the only one on the board with that programmer ... I know quite a few of us went witht the SCT XCal-2 programmer and I could help you with that - but I'm not familiar with the Diablosport.

Diablosport probably has a forum on their site - you may want to check that out.

Good luck.

Sell it and buy a XCal2/3. WAY easier, way more tuners/dealers to choose from.
Daily driver 1: 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport "S"

33" BFG Mud-Terrain KM2s, lots of Rough Country gear - bumper, 2.5" lift, swaybar disconnects, Superwinch 10,000lb winch, Detroit Locker in rear D44 axle, custom exhaust, K+N filtercharger, Superchips-tuned.

Daily driver 2: 2006 Subaru Legacy GT

COBB Stage 1+ package - AccessPort tuner, COBB intake and airbox. Stage 2 coming shortly - COBB 3" AT stainless DP and race cat, custom 3" Magnaflow-based exhaust and Stage 2 COBB tune.

That would be my recommendation also. I had the diablo chip and it was very difficult to find any support for it.

How did you like Diablo overall? I don't have a comparison so I can't tell how good it is .When I bought it , I found that Diablo had more info than SCT , claimed to give more power/torque and the price was better .As for dealers , there's one quite here in Barrie . It is also true that Diablo has only one tune for Focus SVT , vs SCT who's got more options ...I have noticed that Diablo is very popular for SRT-4s

Thank you for the thought , It seems I am the only one with this programmer . It's not the first time when I venture in unchartered waters. I checked with Diablosport forum and I was told that I should be safe as long as the car is fairly stock , which is quite stock . I had to pry a little hoping to get some info , because I have never changed the ECU tune and I don't want to go wrong and regret it

Software is software...I think the claims about being better than eachother are more for marketing than anything else. It really comes down to the tuner programming these things really. Any out of the box tune can be improved on, and thats speaking from expereince. My out of the box tune gave me 160 whp, 180 wtrq, and once the diablo tuner fine tuned it, it made 210whp, 220wtrq. Car drove better, car had much more power, and didnt have any dirvebility issues after.

I had a chip though, much different than what you have, they dont make the tuner for the regular zetec.

I have it but it has the program from a tuner in North Carolina (Tom) which apparently is better than the one that comes on the predator. I think it's great, it really changed the way the car drives - better mpg and smoother acceleration.
I don't know about number 2 but for #3 maybe you can write down the data and if you have to do it again it will be much easier.

My tune was done by Tom also, but for a turbo application.

Well , I went to Dunnville yesterday and I can say that my new Diablo tune gives more torque and helps accelerating quicker . Not night and day diference , but there is a difference . Only that this became a little disadvantage on a couple of very tight turns where I could feel that the outer wheel was losing grip . Don't have LSD . It's just a matter of getting used to the different output that my engine has now .
