I pass emissions in NY with flying colors.
Its going to be imported this month (my inspection down there expires end of august, and insurance expires middle of september.. so why bother paying for all that just to bring it up here shortly afterwards).
Needs to have a safety inspection (no biggy), and emissions, and who knows what else other than making sure there are stupid French labels all over the car (which there are), and DRLs (they work, just have to pop the relay in).
Here are my mods:
CAI
MBRP 2.25" exhaust
custom tune at 94. (Tuner stolen, so no way to take it back to stock tune at the moment).
The MBRP deleted a cat, but still have the big coffee can sized one in the header.
Car is a PZEV vehicle if that makes a difference.

You'll pass with flying colours.
Don't worry about it.
If Aaron passes :icon_mrgreen: you'll pass.

If im correct its only the converter that effects a E-test. all the mufflers do is muffle the noise. :D
so id say if you have a converter you should be good to go.

Duratec = 2 cats and gen 1 MBRP eliminated 1 of them ... but in any event, if John the Scorchman passed, you'll have no difficulty.
BTW - do you actually use 94 all the time with that tune ... I'm kinda guessing here but you might want to make sure you have 94 in the tank the day of the test.

If I can get this on my car you shouldn't have any problems. Mine has hi mileage and wasn't tuned up before the test and I still had a lot of room before I failed. Test completed at the Canadian Tire at Markham and Lawrence.

I passed today! woo hoo!
2000 ZX3
JRSC, SVT header, RT high flow cat, flex, Borla exhaust.
It was not as clean as Focus man, Focus, but a pass is a pass.
My tune is a little safe (i.e. rich) since the JRSC is not intercooled.
Thats 4 e-tests passes in a row!

You REALLY have to be in a bad way to fail an e-test. If you do, then you deserve to be off the road and they are doing you a favour by telling you there is something seriously wrong with your car.
ANY car with ANY cat of ANY kind built this century will always pass. I love to find out how many fail if any?
Its a .gov cash grab and nothing to ever fret about. Hell, my old '91 Subaru always passed and so did my '83 motorcycle which was carburated, had a choke and 4-1 straight pipe.
Sleep well

Failed lol the Duratecs have 2 CAT's. Take one out for a header and fail everytime. Though the second CAT missing will probably allow you to pass. The 1st one is for the NOX gas and thats the gas that comes into affect after the car is warm/hot.
The PC screen shows my car Idling. But when it got to speed it was green for the O2 and Red in the NOX. (anything above 500)
Though I still think the guy had it set to a Zetec engine.
If you fail have them leave the car off untill cool and then start the test just as you start the car. Worked for me.

to lower NOX, either richen the fuel, or add EGR
to lower HC, lean fuel
If you have cats that get sufficiently warmed up, neither should be a problem if your tune is running stochiometric at partial throttles, and your O2/MAF sensors are working properly.

My old Scirocco passed with a bigger engine, big cam, and no cat. I convinced them to look the other way about the missing cat because it passed on all the limits.

Well fears (I'm always fearful of tests and whatnot) are finally over. Had my test this morning, and it barely registered anything at all.

CO% was .01
NO ppm was 2

Of course we care ... it's great to know that a Duratec will pass Ontario emissions without a second cat. :D

hehe thanks. now to get raped at the MTO. Thankfully I only got slightly raped with the insurance company, and I think they even gave me a reach around because of my squeaky clean driving record in NY and no claims in like 15 years with my old insurance company. So I'm only paying 4x what I used to pay.
According to the mechanic I went to, he said when he renewed one of his vehicles he was out of town, and they didn't charge the ridiculous personal vehicle tax. So, we're going to see if we can get away with it this weekend when we're at the cottage. Some place called Millbrook has an MTO open on Saturday morning that we're going to go to. If thats how it works, never going to get our cars renewal crap done in Toronto.
