Hey guys, just got suggested to this site from a friend in the Ottawa Mazda club and figured I should sign up.
I have a 2010 Focus SE, no mods, and dont plan to put mods besides maybe a sway bar in the rear and some summer tires/rims.
Unfortunately I live in Gatineau which is just barely on the Quebec side but since I'm in downtown ottawa in 5 minutes I just say I'm from ottawa. However being that I'm in Gatineau I'm stuck with Quebec's Nanny state law that requires winters installed.
So my all seasons are getting sold on kijiji, buying winters for these steelie/hub cap rims and summer time I'll buy myself a nice set of Ford rims and some Michelin Hydroedge or something of that nature.
Its more the wifes car than mine, my vehicle of choice is my 91 Jeep YJ, SOA on 33s.

they are all the same. suspension has changed very minor between the years, your rear suspension is almost identical, only difference is slightly beefed up LCA's

not at all, i installed a H&R 24mm RSB on tetra's 09 sedan and it is for 00-10

I've got a focus, and had an 89YJ that was getting a 6inch lift on 35s, 360 V8 swap... but it got scrapped.
Guess I'm not the only focus owner who likes jeeps

Whether a car stops in 10 or 100 feet, if you drive accordingly, it's not a problem. I hear Quebec drivers are crazy, so maybe the law makes sense there.

kind of, until your driving 30km/hr under the limit driving 'accordingly', pissing everyone behind you because you didnt want to buy winter tires in the 1st place.
Winter tires in winter is the smarter and safer choice. All the time.

Whoever thinks that winter tires in the winter are not really required......give your head a really good shake.
I feel waaaaaay more comfy with them being on.

Nice man, I didn't bother with a conventional lift. I went straight for the SOA to fit the 33s. Honestly I could fit 35s nicely but 35s + D35 = Boom regardless how light your foot is. lol

I agree with this, however the nanny state requiring my Jeep to have "winter" tires when my 4x4 on Truxus MTs do great in winter anyway is a little ridiculous. Go out and try and find me a winter tire in 33x12.5R15s lol. Its impossible. My only choice is grab some BFG ATs and hope the cop doesnt know that only certain load ranges of those tires are considered "severe weather tires"

Just remember that just as important as the tread is the compound ... winter tires are designed in all aspects for colder weather; and frankly all-season tires are a compromise year round.
Even in GTA when there is no snow, you can tell who has winter tires and who hasn't. It's a shame that it takes a law to make people do the sensible thing.

Thing is ZTW, that having a second set of wheels is a luxury not everyone can afford, for both practical reasons (IE: If you live in a condo where do you store the "off season" tires) and not just economic ones.
Not that I'm condoning it mind, I eat the cost of the extra set and storage because I like to know that I'm as prepared as I can be for whatever Mother Nature decides to throw at me
