clutch..clutch clutch..
#1
i am debating which one i should go for.

for the money, spec stage 3 with 6 pucks is top of my list.
stage3 is cheaper than stage 2(producing cost according to spec rep) but holding more torque.

as you know, my car is on 11 psi boost and dont have number but thinking around 220whp/230tq.

i dont want to have stiff clutch pedal, i dont drive car daily in heavy traffic but i might later.
i want something close to stock.

i heard spec clutch has less clutch pedal travel and engages sooner on the clutch pedal than the factory one.

i havent driven any focus on aftermarket clutch, i am not 100% sure what it means though..
does it means crisp/sharp engagement or engages at higher pedal position?

isnt it bad for clutch life when engages higher??

if you have recommendation on which clutch i should get, please feel free to do so.

My spec clutch seemed to engage very high on the pedal travel compared to stock. Unsure if this is maybe the installation issue, that and everybody who wasn't used to the car pretty much stalled it because it grabbed fast. The clutch pedal was not as stiff as stock, which I found supprising.

Once you get used to it tho, very daily drivable, and when you drive agressivly it grips like no other.
Personally when the clutch in my car fails I'll probably go Spec Stage 3 again.

I loved my spec3, but after seeing the pics from kirk when he was having issues with the tranny, I wouldn't go back to it. The pucks were literary shredded apart. Not sure it it was his driving or what, but it didn't look good at all.

BUT - when I was driving it, I have to echo everything Kevin said. I found it drove better than stock and it grabbed like a mofo.

I am running an excedy stage 1 clutch in my wrx, and its even better then the spec, the stage 1 holds down the 350 torque without any issues whatsoever. not sure if excedy makes one for the focus but I would look at them also...

The experience I had with my Spec stage 2 sounds exactly how Kevin describes above - mind you I was only pushing 200 hp and 180tq but that clutch, combined with the LSD made life on the track very, very, very entertaining.

I love my Spec Stage 3 6-puck. Grabs hard, takes up nice for a built clutch... doesn't let me down.

There's nothing I love more than just being able to shift quick and feeling that clutch hit! Smile
