First cleaning
#1
So I decided that it was time to clean under the hood. It is the first time my GFs car has had anything like this done and also the first time I have tried anything like this. I took some photos a few weeks back and was waiting for some warmer weather to do something about it. Here are the before:

So I bought some Simple Green and some shop towels...Windex and Armour All. It took a lot longer than I thought as it was so caked on. Also removing pieces to get underneath made it take longer but with a better result in the long run. One thing I did notice was that the more I cleaned, the more dirty spots I saw. I finished what I thought was enough but even now I see more spots to come back to today or during the week. My fingers are sore and my nails all black. I did not use Q-Tips or tooth brush but probably will next time.

Following are the after photos but I already know that I need to do more. The underside of the hood, for example, is filthy so that plus so many other parts I now see are still dirty. This all may be a fruitless exercise to keep up as I live on a dirt road but for now I will try and keep it respectable. I have a long way to go before I even get close to the Anthony standard. He has set the bar very high.

I know it would look better but it is my GF's car and a daily driver and I don't want it to be louder inside with engine noise.

I cleaned mine when I first purchased it last year but then I got the krown rust protection because it was never done to the car. The dirt sticks like crazy with it.

I just finished the underside of the hood this afternoon and the stuff I cleaned last time was already getting dirty again. I also saw a lot more places that are dirty under there. I don't plan to be anal about it...maybe something I spend some time on once a month during the summer. I get rustproofing too just before winter and the dirt really does stick to that stuff. Small price to pay I guess to try and minimize the rust monster.
