2003 ZX3-SVT Street/Track Build
#21
You have been given some bad information you will not make 200HP and you DO NOT need the over priced costly massive SVT head it wont make any more power then having a local guy do a good street blend on it

You will be giving up 3-5HP not using the SVT header

People can say what they want but I am the only one to make over 200hp with the SVT and information you got and the plans you have are not going to get you there , I hate to see people spend money through them and not make what they were told they would make , there is a reason that massive has not posted dynos of there heads vs stock or the other heads out there

Bit of an update here. Got alot of progress on reassembly. All panels are on except the body mouldings. Still have to install mirrors and door pillars.

Started on the engine wiring also. Before i went too far on the engine reassembly i wanted to check my motor. When the car was on the road i broke 3 crank sensors. I thought it was a flywheel clutch issue. So i was just going to install the lsd into the broken tranny and drive it stock until i could build the motor , because to be honest i miss it. So today i seperated the motor and trans and sure enough the bottom end is shot.

[Image: EEE8A64D-C2B1-4780-B78C-3CACDE0250AD_zpsthylfyq4.jpg]

Clutch shouldnt move around that much LOL! Missing a dowel and most bolts were rounded off. Pry bar on the crank pulley saw movement. Pry bar on the flywheel and saw movement.

Its a bit of a curse and a blessing. The build is going to get a bit more agressive with its parts. Seats are going up for sale and a cage is coming soon. There are big plans for the car but it wont be done this year. I wont be staying with the zetec so i have to get rid of alot of parts and start fresh. I always tell myself everything happens for a reason, so im excited for what the future holds.

Im just going to leave this here. Wink

[Image: 7390677B-2C2A-495B-8311-0D863B2CA9F8_zps4j0xt0if.jpg]

Finally updating the thread. Long overdue. Got the donor car pulled apart, every piece of wire is out, I only plan on using the ecu, bcm, dash harness, and engine harness. I have the rest just in case I need something else. Swap wont happen until next year, so I will just collect parts until then. I plan on going crazy with it. Return fuel system, aluminum rad with -16an hoses, no coolant tank, Chasebays power steering tank in a different location, hoping to keep up with the k24 guys. I'm always up for power but I need it to look good as well. Summer is over and I don't want to drop the 2.0 in, to then take it out for the 2.5. Since its down, it will stay down, sadly! Sad

Bit behind on the updates, got a good bit of stuff done. Got my interior back together after the paint, all of this was before I realized the bottom end was shot, so it all has to come apart again to do the swap, but I concur LOL!

Onto the pics!

Finished battery switch mount, needs to be repainted because it is too glossy. So it will be painted with the rest of the vents, and the gauge pod I made. Still have to make the one to replace the coin tray. Love the way the switch turned out though. So stealth with the key removed.

[Image: 72A4A5C3-7D89-4385-A4E2-92D162504F04_zpsvdziemtr.jpg]

Relocated the hood latch to the inner fender. The fuse box harness will be in here also.
[Image: 5EF7B69D-8257-4607-9739-0887B2E787D3_zpslsqlc9kb.jpg]

And this is the reason the picture above only has 1 brake line in it. I will be running both rear lines to a T fitting and then into the proportioning valve, 1 line to the rear, then another T fitting in the rear. Just want to be able to add more/less rear brake if need be. Sorry for the potato picture. Only taped it in place to check clearance for mounting.
[Image: 713E30C9-27FE-4C57-9C90-450BF52CEAAB_zpskzgz79zf.jpg]

----------------------------------------------

Pulled the motor out of the donor car in the driveway with no lift, I actually prefer doing it from underneath.

[Image: D2CFAF68-2059-4091-AC01-25AF05C3A119_zpslsxkj5ed.jpg]

And that leaves me up until now. I want to repaint the firewall it didn't come out like I would have liked, I should have removed the subprime for the painter. Other than that I have been toying with the idea of undercoating the entire underneath of the car with rubberized undercoating. As I will have the front and rear suspension out of the car it seems like a good idea. I' bit OCD if you couldn't tell already

And that's it for now!

Plan is a 2.5 duratec with 13:1 compression, crane stage 5's, sheet metal intake, return fuel system, aluminum rad, coolant tank delete like the 08 duratec, oil cooler, power steering cooler, 3" exhaust. Bit more stuff im forgetting ahaha

Well.

That escalated quickly. Just curious on what you did to get the front of the car high enough off the ground to slide the engine out from underneath?

So easy. Remove the rad and upper and lower rad support. Put front end on jack stands at highest point. Disconnect all lines and wiring of course, disconnect motor mounts and tilt engine down and slide out from underneath.

Yeah i was texting with you back and forth about it. I was considering it, but it doesnt make sense to put money into the 2.0 when the end result will be a build 2.5. The cams and intake would be good for my daily driver, since its already a 2.3.

Getting closer! Really wish i had a garage or this car would be done. Swap wont be done until spring unfortunately. I will be buying all of the parts necessary between now and then.

Touched up the firewall and added black coated brake lines from the donor car. I wont be running the firewall mat so it was important to have it look 100%.

Fuse box harness is run inside the inner fender. Have to drop the subframe again to refurb everything suspension wise.

Got the 2.5 dropped off yesterday. Cant wait to drop this thing in. It will just be a bolt on build for now because i cant have this car on stands for another year.

Found some aftermarket parts locally for a great price. Obx header, cosworth replica intake, and a fswerks cold air for $180. Intake has a hairline crack due to shipping but nothing jb weld cant fix.

The intake will have to be ported heavily to work with the 2.5. Ill be tackling that over the winter. Here is the 2.5 o-ring over the intake. I will basically be removing the gasket seat and making a thermal gasket to size.

LOL bolt on build my ass ahahaha

Little bit of an update, sold my SVT front seats. Needed something more race oriented so im going to have to fork out for a set of Corbeau fx1's. Picked up an Autopower roll bar locally. Has a bolt in harness bar. Going to have the harness bar welded in, have the down bars welded together, and have a diagonal brace welded in.

I've officially decided im going to build the engine and do a N/A 2.5 build.

The engine will consist of:

12.5:1 Supertech pistons
Crower forged rods
Head shaved 0.40 to 13.5:1 compression
Crane stage 5 cams w/ springs & retainers
3 angle valve job
xcessive intake manifold modified to work
75mm/70mm throttle body
4" intake tube w/ 3" maf tube

Gave the car its first wash to knock the dust off of it for the car cover. The hood is at the body shop getting the RS vents installed.
