I Think My Struts Are Screwed Upgrade Time!
#1
Everytime I hit a bump my car squeeks. I think my struts are shot. I am thinking that if this is the case then I am gonna upgrade to a new spring strut configuration to give the car a 1" drop with some stiffer struts so the car doesn't lean as much when I corner. What brand should I be looking for in this area?

depends how much you wanna spend.
the ideal setup would be something with Koni yellows and some nice springs. H&R sports or something along those lines.
but in the end youre looking at $ 8--~1k for struts alone
another decent package. would be the eibach prokit. comes with the prokit springs and dampers.

but if you wanna save money, try to get your hands on a full svt suspension kit. andrew (2001zts) bought that kit for his sedan. and i'm pretty sure you can still pick it up through batinc for roughly 300usd.

is it underdamped though? just cuz it squeaks doesn't mean the dampers are blown

Well I can push down on the car and it bounces back up and stops...it doesn't do the gelly suspension thing...it just squeaks.

Adam, I had the same problem with my car. Whenever I was going into a dip in the road or even a slight bump, the car would rattle and squeak. Turns up it was the steering linkages were shot. I'd suggest either bringing the car to Ford to have them look at it (and claim warranty). It could also be the front bumber becoming a little loose.

When my car was doing the squeaking, I brought it to the shop, they changed the linkages and fixed the bumper. Now it works nice...

my car also squeaks, its because the plastic splash guard on the front wheel wells is broken , very little pressure from the side pushes it in, i can bend it like a foot, and i haven't even gotten it fixed yet, geese, i take good care of my car eh! Well at least i keep it full of gas, oil and wash it sometimes, but i don't dry it. Poor car i feel sorry for it :(
