Add Portuguese to thal list as well, but on my list to learn is Japanese my uncle goes to Japan all the time on business trips and once in a while he also lands in TO. The last time my uncle came here we took off for a Sushi bar and he ordered the whole meal in Japanese the guy who took our order was very impressed by my uncle's Japanese.

Yea, me too. I wish I didn't have to read the subtitles in kung fu flicks (I miss all the action) and when shopping at all the chinese stores, they always ask me in what I want in chinese and I can't answer, so they treat me like a retard.

I'd love to learn Japanese, I've always had a massive respect for the true Samurai way of life.

And yes, Spanish is quite close to French with a few glaring exceptions. One that comes to mind is "un autre" which means "one more" or "another", but in Spanish it's "uno mas".

I was actually told by one of the security guars where we were staying in the Dominican that a LOT of people in the RD speak French as it's so easy for them to learn.

if you want chicks... go spanish
if you want to be the big man in montreal - french
if you want to know canada's second non-official language, pick mandarin or cantonese
if you're planning to go to japan, and want to be the bestest gaijin a doey-eyed japanese girl has ever seen, take japanese.
if you want to converse natively with some of the hottest women on the planet, pick up portugese
if you're planning on getting into the old mafia, hit up italian.
if you're planning on getting into the new mafia, may want to hit up russian.
If you're looking for a mail-order bride, you should pick up polish
if you're planning on world domination, or just plain like the color grey, take german.
and if you plan to travel to the states a lot, take some stupid lessons.

I'm learning Japanese off my best friend and I got a keyboard in with a translate button feature from Japan, from my Oka-san ( mother ) there. I can tell you Portuguese and Japanese have very Similar words, and same meanings in the language.

Japanese, and russian are the main two lingos I want to learn followed by german and Italian.

I guess I should translate that for you ?
