seriously,

Best advice. Of course many of us told you not to buy another one after what happened to the red one...

As for the free rental, I'm sure they could have made a provision whereby it was rented to someone else's name in the family... dunno if it's fair saying they wouldn't give you one. Eitherway, get above the dealership. Reigional managers for service, head office, etc... that's who you need to be speaking with. Always hold the "Well after all the trouble this car has given me, I've decided I don't want it any more and for the amount of my life you've wasted due to incompetence and completely lax approach to customer service, I deserve a buy-back from you at the full value I paid" in front of them... see what they say

i will be contacting ford canada about this one... its pretty ridiculous. but i just need to have some time first.

you mean northtown?

They went out of business.

Here's a little story on that... I was waiting for my car at Erinwood the day the news broke that Northtown had closed their doors (April 8) seems that this isn't the first time they've gone out of business and according to the one guy, there were more than a few employees there who would be due hefty severance packages but for the fact that Northtown went out of business

Makes me glad I work for the government and I'm unionized <_<

Steve, that's F uckin' bullshit and you know it. That's all big stuff, we're not talking about squeeky dash panels here.

You bought an SVT for Christ sakes.

Yeah, I've had way less problems with my 2001 SE with the miser SPI engine.

Start with the first 1-800 Ford number you find, and don't give up till you get at least a regional PR rep. Tell them it's their number first, and the TV / newspapers second.

Ok, let's try to get through all the BS and and get to the root of the problem. First off, i don't care if it's elcheapo or an SVT, any car is a candidate for problems. Your supposed to get better service with an SVT, so this is where you can bitch to the top of Ford's ladder. I hope they listen. The dealership is dam aweful. Seems like youv'e hit every bad dealer out there. And I wouldn't suggest Kennedy. Both Anthony and I love Discovery in Burlington, but that's not the point. Go to Ford and be very precise, analytical and intense with them to the point that your willing to give up the car to them because of the lack of service and problems you had with the car.
They should go out of their way to help you solve the problem and compensate you in some way. Tell them that if they don't compensate you, and tell them what you want, like lifetime free oilchanges, then your willing to go to small claims court to be compensated for the time you have been without your car. That's a tough sell as they rented your mom a car, but let them know your serious. Be firm with them, but not a fuktard. leave that s**t here on the board.
If my pop was still with them, he kick someone's ass for the s**t you've been through. That was his job. Asskicker at Ford.
TEAM PITA Don't settle for a wannabe, only accept the real deal.

One day I will rule the world. For now, I have to settle for this place.

Having worked at Ford of Canada for over 20 years I've heard it all. Have you contacted the area dealer rep? Have you stormed into Ford of Canada headquarters in Oakville and screamed at the top of your lungs? If not, I would suggest these two steps to be your next options. The squeky wheel really does get oiled first, and it has always worked for me. BTW stay away from Discovery Ford in Burlington, especially the service advisor Frank. He's not sure if they are an SVT dealership, and when he is reminded that they are, he tries to say that the SVT service programs are no longer available anywhere, or change that to not in Canada at least. Then Frank calls me to cry about the shitty grade I gave him. Plus my SVTF had grease everywhere the idiot "mechanic" touched inside and out and oil? stains on both front seats.
Unfortunately you have to go to a dealership for warranty or recall repairs. Otherwise I'd suggest finding a good independent garage.

First, get in touch with your dealership area rep

Ive had some problems with my car but nothing major, but the ones I have had and were delt with the service department scared me enough to not buy a ford again. Im worried that once I start having to service the car more and end up going to ford Im gonna over pay alot and the work is gonna be s**t.

Heres a conversation from the discovery service person ....."Oh we dont fix lights after 60k " me: "how come you fixed my seat belt" service advisor : "well thats a safety device and you kind of need it" me: "and you dont need lights?"

Heres a good one I bent my rad support I got an estimate for 1200 to replace my rad and fix the rad support. I walked into the service bay and asked him to show me the damage he showed me and I saw the rad support was bent a little. I asked the tech if he could just bang it staight cause it wasnt to bad, his reply was "its gonna take more time to make it staight" I said to him would it take more time and money to replace it he said "well not really". I picked up a hammer walked up and hit it 2 times and it was staight, I was so dam angry that they tried to pull that s**t on me.
This was at parkdale ford

I honestly don't know how you guys get such crappy service... do you people walk in acting all tough-as-s**t, or as cocky know-it alls or something? Honestly, anytime I've had a beef with my dealership (first Rowland, now Bay Ford), I explain my case, show whatever proof I have, and they're kind enough to listen to me and address my issues.

I mean, I've been to Donway, Rowland, and Bay, and I'd say that Donway is the only dealership that treated me like some worthless punk... heck, even Bay ford was kind enough to wait on me ordering brake parts, and have no problem dealing with my non-stock supercharger setup, to the point where the service manager went out and bought the 0w30 oil I requested for winter.

I mean stuff happens, and in this case, this is how I see it...

1) wrong parts were ordered.. humans make mistakes, but you should be compensated. You got a rental
2) but you can't drive the rental.. that's because you're under 21..that's not a dealership problem, that's a general rental problem (their insurance won't cover anyone under 21)... try renting a car from ANYWHERE if you're under 21... it won't happen. Hell, lots of rental places won't rent you a car if you're under 25... I only realized this after renting a car 3 times (and driving it) for business!

I honestly hope that we're not storming into dealerships and demanding lincoln service for our entry-level compact cars... otherwise, I could understand why a dealership would never want to deal with focus owners.

Dealers are like women.... once in while you find a good one (no offence here Steve)

Fuktard and I have been very pleased with Discovery, I've even had run ins with Frank myself, but when I mentioned the dealership survey, he paractically gave me a handjob. When i was having transmission problems over the moon with my car, I first called the dealer (why have you not been able to fix this?) Then Ford, (why have I been experiencing so many problems with this car?) and asked them to do something about my misfortune. At first they told me they couldn't do anything for me. I then made a point to call Ford EVERYTIME my car was in the dealer. I was calling them 3 times a month at one point. Sometimes twice a week. The strut bearing went and they had a bitch finding that too.

I also stated my age, proffession, and that I will likely own a dozen more cars in my time (between my wife and I) and none of them would be Fords.

All of a sudden, BAM Extended warrenty and 15 oil changes.
It's not a free car or nothing, but the thought was there.

The trick is not to be a dick. Be as polite as possible, be thourough, and stay calm. Just use heavy words.

Im very calm when I go in but when I know they are trying to rip me off I let them know Im not a sucker.

Im sorry but when somebody wants to charge you almost 200 to look at lights.... then he says hes doing me a favour by looking at the fuses and tells you that the fuses are not the problem, but you later find out that it is ...........thats gonna make you pissed.

That does suck big time. I have a great dealer here in London but screwups have occured... just human mistakes indeed.

Call your lawyer and have him them write a letter... trust me, it's much more effective on a law firm's letterhead then on scoobasteve's garfield stationary :P . then you don't have to deal with all the little aggravations. The dealer WILL respond.

Sorry to hear about your luck with your SVT.

As somebody who also has felt the sting of the mighty ignorant Ford Motor Company the best place to start your search for some form of restitution is to contact Ford@1-800-565-3673 (FORD) and in a calm voice explain to them what's been going on with your car and the lack of service from your dealer, if that doesn't work walk to your dealer and talk directly to the manager and voice your complaint directly to him and nobody but him and explain to him that if these problems don't get rectified immediately you will never buy a Ford again. The previous action got me squat but got Anthony quite a bit I probably would have been happy with the extended warranty but then again he had more problems with his car than I did.

Since I work so close to Donway anyway I've made it my mission to go and show the sales person that sold me my Focus every new car that my family buys that could have been a Ford, the last time it was when Donway had there huge blowout sale and I went there to get my name pulled off there mailing list, I park my brother's brand new Hyundai Tucson go in talk to the secretary and when I come out there are 2 people looking at the Tucson and strike up a conversation with them they liked the looks of the Tucson and wanted to know where to go have a better look at them as they couldn't find them on Ford's lot so I pointed them across the street to Kingcross Hyundai.

Just remember one thing scoobasteve "the customer is allways right" and you have a right to complain when you're not satisfied with the product that has been sold to you.

Laterz :)

Well I'll take a hit for Ford here, i don't have the time right now to read the second page of this thread. The listing for the SVT is s**t. Especially anything to do with the 6spd. I know of the exact problem with the axle seals and ordering them in wrong. There was no listing except the mtx-75 and auto for a while.

First shipment of parts came in today. Seal not on it... Go figure.

my dad went into talk to the service manager today

service manager said something along the lines of "Ford is screwing him, the car has been there on the hoist for 12 days"... bleh, this is growing tiresome.

I'd be calling Ford very quickly after your service manager says that Ford themselves is screwing you, a SVT owner.
