I have 17's on my car, and I need one new tire, I got an offer for a used tire to use temporarily, but it is 205/40/17. Will it still fit? Please hurry

Don't know what size you have now but the outside diameter will 23.5", a stock 205/50R16 is 24.1". So your tire will be 0.6" smaller than that. This works out to 2.6% speedo error. 3% is condidered max.
Don't know if you have a drop or whatever so can't comment on rubbing issues. Why do I get the feeling your "temporary" fix will be a pernament one? Make sure the odd sized tire is on a rear wheel as the different rotating speeds will give your front diff a lot of issues.
