Well i'm still looking at cars to replace the SVT. and i really cant decide. at this point i'd prefer to stay away from ford.
If i'm buying a car, i definatley want it to be a Manual transmission. thats my main requirement.
Truck, Doesnt really matter.
Price Range = 0-21000.... the lower the better
Right now i have 3 seperate lists to consider, it all depends where my job relocates.
I'll start with the impractical list. (meaning 0 commute... or transit)
E34 BMW M5 - Years 1990 - 1993. Very impractical car, Expensive repairs. Generally high km
E36 BMW M3 - 1997-1998 - Expensive repairs. Most in my price range are between 120-190km
2000 Audi S4 - My price range = High KM, but such a nice car.
Truck List
1996-1998 GMC Yukon GT
1998-2000 Lincoln Navigator
2000-2002 Dodge Durango
2000-2003 Ford Expedition
Car List
2001-2003 Acura 3.2 TL type S (Hard to find in manual)
2002-2003 Nissan Maxima SE 3.5 6mt
2002-2004 Nissan Altima 3.5SE
2002-2003 Acura 3.2CL
2001-2003 Lincoln LS V6 5spd
2002-2003 Cadillac CTS 5spd
2003 Honda Accord V6 Coupe 6mt
or
Import a 2002-2003 Subaru WRX from the US (much cheaper than canadian prices)
Currently I'm leaning towards the Maxima, It seems to have everything i want
V6, 6spd, HID's and theyre fairly easy to find.
If anyone has any comments, reccomendations or opinions on any of the cars it would be appreciated. as well as other car suggestions.
Thanks

Maxima is sweet. so is the TL.....that car grows on me everytime I see it. and its got a sweet sounding stock engine.
BUT, after driving the Justy for 3 winters now, there is no way in hell I would get a FWD car for winter driving again, never. So......
Import the REX!! :D :D

Nate has a good point about winter, although I have yet to get stuck.
The US Rex is a possibility, but if you're going States-side why not go Evo VII or Evo VIII?
I'd also opt for a Nissan anything over a Honda anything, anyday. The 6spd Maxima sounds cool.
Trucks? Why the heck do you need a truck? Surely you don't participate in that parking lot penis measuring, do you?
Practicality: Maxima
Ideally: Rex or EVO
Hillbilly: any of those trucks you listed

Evo's are illegal to import....
there seems to be quite a bit of hassle in importing a newer car too. thats the only reason i'm probably going to stay away from the wrx. not to mention i cant just trade the focus in stateside.

K, well whats the point of even mentioning it then :P
I'd give the TL a test drive, then hop into the Maxima. My old boss has the 05 Maxima and he loves it even more than his 05 Mustang GT.

haha, i was really hoping that someone would say, hey, i know an agency that will do all the paperwork... lol. I mean, i've seen some STI's sell for 20k us! compared to 34-40k cdn here.
I've driven an 00 3.2tl. My sister has one. I havent taken out a type s yet... or a stick one for that matter.
An suv was only a consideration, because finally i'd have room to finish off my stereo the way i want it.... Straight to ridiculous bass!

If you want something slightly older, like my never-ending admiration for the Skyline R32 GTS-4 and GT-R... check that out.
Whoops. Says they're in transition, which I hope means they're coming back.

These cars sound pretty decent, a co-worker was really set on the V6 Accord, but Honda wouldn't budge $1 on the price, he said he was going to shop around some more, at which they told him he needed to leave a $500 deposit if he wanted the car. He left and bought a Mazda6 V6 GFX.
And for get the Yukon or the Nav, gas prices are back under a doller a litre for now., but remember where they are going.

A couple of my coworkers have the Mazda 6.
Why not get a nice blend of new tech and proven chassis and go with a Mazda 3?
Yeah Kansei is borked... I considered them a couple of years back when I wanted, really wanted either a Silvia Ks or Skyline GTS-4.
I still want the GTS-4 :(

Might not be a car you would consider, but can always check out the 2005 lancer ralliarts , 2.4L about 160 hp/tq, they dyno at about 150-155 whp, and runs on 87, and 7500 km and not 1 problem just a $30 oil change at mitsu. I bought one after the focus. $0 down against the car, $1400 for the bull s**t fees, and $300 a month taxes in (lease 60 months) 1.95%. Has a 5 year bumper to bumper, 10 year tranny.
Plus with all the bolt ons out there for it you can get it into the low 14's and some have gone into the 13's with slicks. Otherwise for $4200 you can get a full turbo kit, and be at about 250 whp/wtq. Plus if you don't take it with the premium stereo it still has all the wire channels to run all the wire you could ever imagine. To top it all off they are built in japan.
If you have any questions about it let me know via pm.

Steve, in my total Honest Opinion, why not just keep the focus till you get out of school ? you said when you move to Brantford you'll be going back to school when you get there, why give yourself another useless payment on another car if you have one already even though it's relibility is somewhat questionable at this point.
On that note, I should mention it's been rather quite lately as you've not posted any recent problems with the car todate, and again not to mention you've had a problem free year with it so far LOL.........
Edit: Post # 1500 here

I dunno, the way you rack up miles on a car, you'll just be that much farther in the hole if you buy a used anything, even if it has a clean pedigree and a bulletproof repair history you're still playing Russian Roulette with an Uzi, esp. since almost none of your choices will have any warranty coverage left.
Just something to think about.

Haha, it looks like i'm not going to brantford anymore. so i gotta start night school down here. while working... fun stuffs!
the car has been relitavley problem free, aside from its usual garbage. wonky charging system... random stalling/rough idling.
