True.
Isn't the offset of these Contour wheels a bit different (less than optimal) ?

Did you try Dominion auto recyclers? they had my 15inch stocker multi-spoke. Reasonable pricing compared to new I felt.

Just put the snows on the stockers. That's what I did last year. Hankook winter Ice Bears size 215/45R17 (stock size) on the factories, apply a coat of wax on the rims and you're OK. My rims still look brand new and they've been through two winters now. Also if you do f'em up just use 'em for winter and now you have an excuse to get a new set of 17's for spring/summer.
BTW I too was looking for 16" svt contour rims last year and couldn't find them anywhere and you'll still prob pay quite a bit for them.

Just my $.02 ;)

I tried for focus wheels too. Cougars are way easier to pick up. (You may post your smart ass comment now).

Smart ass comment? Far from it, that was brilliant; though you usually cant get 4 at a time and they cost a bit more.

I've been looking into this recently aswell and can't find a 16inch wheel that fits. The spare that comes with an svt rim is a 16" but ony 4.5 wide. I was thinking of getting another 3 of them and putting a 205/60/15 or whatever the proper tire size is and go with just the spare rims with snow tires for the winter, afterall isn't it that the wider the rim in the snow the worse it is so I figure the 4.5 should be ok, just an idea. how much are those hankook ice beras worth anyway?

If you know what you want the wreckers can get them in 24hrs.
(Contour rims $70.oo/wheel include centre piece in box -that was 2yrs ago.)
I had to replace one that got damaged on my last car 98 contour.
Nice aluminum multi spoke rim 16"

Would spare wheel rims be strong enough for regualr use? The tire definately is not but how about teh wheel itself?

Is the spare in fact even 16"? Often in cars performance models the spare is 15" and will only fit the rear wheel. If you get a flat front tire you:

-take the spare and use it to replace a rear wheel
-take the rear wheel and use it to replace the flat front

I just can't believe there aren't thousands of 16" OEM Alloy Focus wheel sitting on shelves or in a field somewhere. Even if you pay $100 each and add Canadian Tire Ice or Nordic Trac tires you should be OK for about $800 total?

I tried finding 16" wheels too but there were none (used or take-off) to be had at local Ford dealers or auto wrecker yards. Importing from the USA (or shipping from British Columbia) is too expensive. Ended up buying cheap aftermarket alloy wheels at Cheap Thrills, in Milton. Don't know the price of each wheel because I got a package of four wheels with Hankook Ice Bear tires, stemmed, balanced and mounted, for a package deal of $1,000 (including sales taxes), which is ~$870 net. That's about $100 for each wheel and each tire. The wheels look acceptable - nothing loud or garish. Ask for "Classic Alloy #112".

I wouldn't feel safe riding on the space saver 4.5" wide rims for any longer than it would take to reach the nearest garage. These rims weren't designed for prolonged use. The Hankooks cost me $600 incl taxes and installation. These are great winter tires, excellent in deep snow and slush.
BTW a 205/50R16 would never fit a 4.5" wide rim.
