I highly doubt they're gonna fix it under warranty. You've got 50 k on it. Maybe if it went after 5 k but not 50. You're only glimmer of hope is that SVT did upgrade some clutches under warranty. Again you've got 50k so I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Well you could try to lay the clutch TSB released by SVT/Ford on them, but I seriously doubt it would fly. I have to agree with Bluetoy here.

Copy of the TSB is you want to try....

Take it to the SVT dealer. It is covered under warranty. I beat the hell out of my SVT and it was covered.

Doesn't the 2003 SVTF have a 5year/100,000km powertrain warranty?

Yes it does have the 5/100 pwrtrain warranty, but the problem is that this is a TSB, not a recall. The dealer has discretion on weather or not they perform the repair, and what the charges will be. Also the clutch is considered a "consumable" item. <_<

If you look at the name of the SVTOA member that posted the TSB, you'd see it was me. Geez that was a long time ago ;)
Kennedy Ford in Oakville didn't give me a hassle at all about this or any of the other service bulletins covering my SVT or the wife's ZTW.

Oh, and I beat the heck out of my SVTF.

something you guys should be aware of, reguardless of mileage, "Consumable" items like brakes and clutches are not covered under powertrain warrenties unless A: there is a mechanical failure or B: a drivability issue not related to wear&tear.

Or C: when Ford knows there is an issue with one or more parts and issues a TSB to have newly engineered parts installed, which sounds like what zx3tuning is repeating.

EO.Masiv_tiketzcervinisvt, what sound is the car making? Park next to a wall with your window down and tell us what you hear. Is it worse when the car is in neutral? With the clutch ingaged or disengaged?

I'm glad to hear that they did yours with out hassle, but I have heard of both cases happening over on FF. Theres quite a few who have had a cluth or even multiple cluthes replaced under this TSB, BUT there are also other cases where where people are turned away or denied the TSB by dealerships. I mentioned this clutch TSB to my service advisor/SVT sales manager (who will pretty much let any performance mod on my car slide to keep my warranty) and he told me that because I had the car for over a year/13,000kms that he wouldn't do the TSB, but would cover the labor if I needed to replace the clutch. What I'm trying to say here is that not everyone gets the TSB done with out question or hassle, even though they should.

Guys a TSB isn't a recall, if it was you would have no problem getting it repaired under warranty. That recall came out in 2004 I'm sure they would have checked your car when it was back at the dealer for regular maintenance.

Since the clutch is a consumable item it's going to be hard to get the dealer to replace a clutch that's slipping without a mechanical defect and then they still might not do it if the clutch has obvious signs of abuse. The TSB title also states “PREMATURE CLUTCH WEAR” 50k isn’t premature 5K or less would be but since it doesn’t state the actual expected mileage a clutch should last you would have to check what your warranty says about expected clutch life or warranty coverage.

Still take a shot at it, I did it with my Tib the first dealer told me it was my fault that the noise was there, the 2nd diagnosed it as a faulty DM flywheel and replaced my flywheel, clutch and rebuilt my transmission all under warranty.
I have a few cars.

One for my dog.
One that has no roof.
One that looks good parked at the golf course.
One that is being rebuilt by a guy named Nero..... will it ever be done?

The noise in the trans in neutral is usually normal. it's most likely gear rattle. some SVTF's had throw out bearing problems which make similar noises. Your clutch is slipping because it's burned out. You did that not Ford and not because of any throwout bearing rattle.

Your gonna be paying for it yourself.

Be nice and let them know you heard about a clutch TSB. Maybe they'll fix it I really think with 50k and a consumable part worn out you're gonna have a hard time getting warranty.
