From Green To Blue
#1
Hey guys,
I have changed my headlight and window switches (except drivers door) from Green to Blue. I am going to do the drivers door window switch today I think but here are photos of what I have done so far. Sorry but there are no before pictures but I am sure that we all no what they look like. The photos are a bit blurry but you get the idea.

I will get photos of the drivers door window switch once I get it finished. I am also going to do the door lock switches but I will have to pick up some more LED's first. I am really happy with the way it has turned out.

What a day...... I was at Sick Kids from 11 till 2:30 with my daughter. She has a tooth that is infected. She is scheduled for oral surgery in July but they are going to move the date up. As for swinging by your place Tony I will see if I can in a bit. I have had a busy day.

Thanks for all the compliments on the LED mod. It was easier than I thought. All you need is a soldering iron, LED's and a steady hand. I am doing the drivers door window switches next. I will add those photo's once I complete them.

Ok after my busy day with my daughter I did find some time to finish off my drivers door window switch. Again I can't seem to take a clear photo of the switches but here is the final result.

Al's rims look SWEET. Did you all load in and see if there was any rubbing? Sorry I couldn't stick around but I had to get to Scarborough for dinner.

How long is it going to take to get a new key? With all this nice weather I bet you hope it wont take long at all.

I hope it doesn't take long at all

 I want my rims on

Al's rims are close to rubbing but don't think he will have a problem.

Pics, where are the picks of the rims.

On topic. Looks really good. Are you planning on changing the HVAC to blue too?

I bought a spare set of AC/Defrost buttons from Frost 2001 and I took them apart and I can't seem to see how those LED's work in there. I think it would be easier to buy a set of buttons already made to light up blue. As for the heater control dials I haven't thought about that yet. I think I am going to have to get a repair manual to figure that one out. I am thinking it should be easy.

Nice looking mod. Is it possible to do other colours or is that limited because of the basic design on the switches?

You could prolly do any color of LED that you can get. That would be the limiting factor i would guess.

You can change them to what ever colour you can buy the LED's in. Red, Blue, Green, Yellow. You need to get about 15 3mm LED's in the colour of your chosing and maybe 5 610ohm resistors to do the headlight switch and all the power window switches. Next on my list is to do the power door lock switches.

Ah, y'see the power door lock switches on the '05's don't light up at all (at least mine don't seem to do more than emit a sick green glow that's just about invisible...)

'course the fact that the cruise switches on the steering wheel are dark as pitch at night is a major PITA, but nothings gonna change that I fear...

You could always just add neon, leds to the inside and light up the whole inside. Then you could see all the switches inside the car. :)

Where did you get the led from / cost ? I'm thinking of doing the stereo in my focus as I've seen some for sale on the UK e-bay, not to mention the lights, and headlight switch too... I just don't care for the orange rear fog light button..... not to mention I'd want to colour match the lights to what they are on my car now.....
