Title: Dunnville Autodrome may fly in to a new location

Could this become the site of Ontario's next "new" race track?

Following the war this former WW2 RCAF training field just southeast of Wasaga Beach became a home to auto racing throughout the 50's. In fact, BEMC ran their first annual Spring Trophy Races there in June of 1950.
Racing at the former training field ended when the Department of National Defence took it back for use as a radio transmitter location operating until the late 90s. In 2002 the site returned to civilian small plane use and resumed operations as Edenvale Aerodrome.
This is where Lee Abrahamson, former owner/operator of the Dunnville Aerodrome track comes in. The Dunneville track, built on unused runways at Dunnville airport, ceased operation last summer after a long but unsuccessful fight with local residents and the county over noise and bylaw issues.
Now he's found another airport and plans to try again. In partnership with Edenvale Aerodrome's current owner, he hopes to begin construction of a 2.8 km track this spring. It will utilize existing runways and taxiways together with newly paved connectors, similar to what he did in Dunnville. With a bit of luck, Edenvale may yet return to being a home for motorcycle and auto club racing in Ontario.

They've done some construction since the time of the last google satellite shots. Feel free to scribble your own ideal race track course out of and between the existing tarmac.

If you bought one of the (many) houses right beside this airport, you could walk home every night.
Count them up. He'll have fewer neighbours than he had at Dunnville, but not that much fewer.
Here's a chance for region racers to help the cause by buying out those neighbouring houses! ;D

It looks like they're starting up with lapping on Canada Day. Number of cars for the day will be restricted to just 13, suggesting that this is something of a test run.
