My 2000 ZTS is creaking and groaning on the driver's side front end. I had the lower ball joints and front springs replaced in December 2008, on both sides. Struts are still original. My dumb question of the day is does the focus have an Upper Ball Joint?

No upper ball joint, but it does have an upper strut mount which houses a ball bearing for the steering to pivot on.

Thanks for the info. My main concern is something breaking and me takin' out a few others along the way. If it's a strut, or spring or axle, they can wait a bit, a bad ball joint can't, from personal experience :o :(

It could just be an ice buildup in the suspension. Very common in the Focus. Try taking it to the car wash and give the undercarrage a good spray of hot water and see if that helps.
