ok, so my exhaust kit arrived and i put the pieces together just to see the whole look (resonator, muffler, and tip)
exhaust kit
I'm wondering if i should install it now or wait until next spring (skip the winter)?
I was also looking at the welds....it looks good but is there anyway to know if there are any poor welds or cracks? As far as i checked the welds looked good.
My last question is, i noticed the muffler i have (the magnaflow) is a cylindrical round shape.....is there any difference from this shape and the ones that are usually wider (not so much cylindrical) in sound or performance?
the volant intake also arrived...here it is:
volant intake
is it easy to install? Do i have to be careful with the sensors part? I think i'll do this first and hold off on the exhaust kit until after winter.

so are you guys saying that the smaller muffler the louder the noise it will make? I was told that with a magnaflow muffler and resonator it's going to be very quiet....and i don't have any race headers either.
Also...whats the difference between having the muffler tucked away in the middle of the tubing (like mine) and having a muffler right at the end with the tip?

im attempting to install the volant intake now ...im just not clear about the turning off the battery and removing it first before installing the intake....is that okay? Why do i have to turn off the battery and take it out? Can't i just install the intake without touching the battery?

Just disconect it, and you might have to remove it if theres a bigger snorkle for the volant, i have a AEM Cold Air so I had to remove the battery, its easy to do, takes 10 minutes.

Taking the battery out/off will reset the ECU once the its reinstalled after the install is complete. You want to do this because you want the ECU to relearn with the improved air flow from the new intake

thanks for the offer to help. really kind. I'll give it a shot. I was looking at that site too....better than nothing but the pictures aren't so great.
okay i took a look under the hood and noticed that star shaped looking bolt on the MAF sensor and realized my screw driver or flathead wasn't going to open that.....i think its called the torx? Yeah i don't have that tool. I'll have to ask my dad next week when i go home and visit them.

does that mean i wont be able to put back in if i ever wanted to? (literally rip it out or do u just mean it's hard to remove?).
Also, since im resetting the ECU, is it better that i install the exhaust kit first and then the intake so the ECU will detect the new changes (of both) or does the ECU only matter to the intake?
Put another way, if i do the intake first and the ECU is reset to account for new changes in air flow, if i add the exhaust kit after, the ECU won't be able to adjust to the additional improvement to air flow?
Or do u reset the ECU again anyways whenever u install an exhaust kit?
