RE: Building a Boosted Duratec - ZX3_2NV - 04-21-2014 You gonna roll those fenders? That back end is gonna hit for sure. RE: Building a Boosted Duratec - Scorcher000 - 04-21-2014 Yep, gonna roll it hard lol. I'm painting it maybe next year so I don't car if pain cracks RE: Building a Boosted Duratec - Scorcher000 - 04-26-2014 While fitting my flu I had a chance to wrap the DP. I think it turned out well. MFactory informed me that they have been waiting on parts to build my LSD. The parts they had in stock were slightly damaged and didn't want to risk using them. So it's on it way shortly. RE: Building a Boosted Duratec - zx3kash - 04-26-2014 Did you get a helical or plate type? RE: Building a Boosted Duratec - Scorcher000 - 04-26-2014 Helical RE: Building a Boosted Duratec - Scorcher000 - 05-01-2014 Just picked up some parts from Ken. I decided to just grab some new front end parts instead of using the old worn out parts... L+R Front Knuckles L+R Front Hub+Bearings L+R Front Speed Sensors MFactory LSD Fusion Crankshaft Position Sensor (Not Focus...) Still to come (In Transit Still) 05-07 Regular Grille Lower Rad Support Pictures tomorrow RE: Building a Boosted Duratec - Scorcher000 - 05-02-2014 Here are the pictures of the parts. New Hub and Bearing Set New L+R Front Knuckles The MFactory LSD for MTX-75 I had some time to work on the car a little bit this afternoon. I removed the engine from the stand Installed the Mail Seal. Nice and tight. Also decided to install the clutch too. Here is the clutch right out of the box as is. The Ferdanza Fly Wheel Separated Installed! I used the Ford 2.3L Flywheel bolts and tightened them up. I just hope I aligned the puck plate properly... That's the only part that has me iffy. RE: Building a Boosted Duratec - zx3kash - 05-02-2014 Throw some gloves on, and lather it in oil. Thow it in a ziplock. I took mine out to inspect it and it was mint. Put it back in the plastic and some surface rust started and i was surprised because it was in my bedroom lol. Hard rubbing with a rag took it off. RE: Building a Boosted Duratec - Scorcher000 - 05-03-2014 Naa, just dropped it off at one of the best places to have work done to you car. It will be installed way before any rust decided to grow lol RE: Building a Boosted Duratec - Scorcher000 - 05-08-2014 Painted the knuckles But as I was installing them I realized that I had purchased the bigger 2006 knuckles and now I have to buy a piece of pipe to create a shim for the strut lol. Cross bar with new paint job Installed the new CFM control arms and rocker guarded the inner fenders. Painted the Cossy a Metal Flake Black. The specks that look like dust are the metal flakes Then I polished the Lettering. RE: Building a Boosted Duratec - drunkinmonkey - 05-08-2014 looks good man!!! RE: Building a Boosted Duratec - Scorcher000 - 05-09-2014 Thank you!! I just picked up some grade 8 bolts nuts and washers for the new knuckles. RE: Building a Boosted Duratec - ZTWsquared - 05-09-2014 (05-09-2014, 08:03 AM)Scorcher000 Wrote: Thank you!! I know how you like to take things to the next level John ... did you know that ARP now makes regular size nuts and bolts? Their ARP300 stainless nuts and bolts are rated at a tensile strength 20% higher than Grade 8 - and of course it's stainless, so no corrosion. RE: Building a Boosted Duratec - Scorcher000 - 05-10-2014 Wow that's actually pretty cool to know! And yes I do like to just take things to the next level lol. I'm good for bolts now, but I needed to see a bolts bin in order to get the specific ones I needed. But while I was raiding a bolts bin I was talking to that "Guy" I was tell you about Ken. And he will do the 2.5" polished 304 ss for roughly $300. So ya I'm stepping up the car again lol. I should have it rolling on the ground tomorrow, when I get that shim from Metal Supermarkets. RE: Building a Boosted Duratec - Scorcher000 - 05-13-2014 Ok... So a lot has gone on in the past few days. Mainly Saturday lol. I had some time to assemble the front end and it looks awesome. I greased everything on it. I had gotten all new bolts for the Knuckles and even had to buy some pipe to cut and make a shim so the knuckle would tighten onto the strut base. I put the brakes back on just for now. I need to repaint the calipers green as well and paint the hub on the rotor. Wheels on, almost there... I had a buddy with me working on my engine. He installed silicone on the Cossy and then we installed it with Loctite on the new bolts. While is was off I had a look at the back and used the PCV port to install my AEM Watermeth sprayer. It is at the perfect location too. It will hit all 4 velocity stacks equally and be mix with the incoming air. But I had to use a couple different brass fittings to get it away from the heat, down to the fitting size I needed. (1/2"NTP to 1/8"NTP). Then I installed my Siemens 60LBS injectors and stock fuel rail. It's ugly but it as a highflow rate and it works. It will also work perfectly with my fuel pump upgrade it I need to do it too. No return line here to heat up the fuel and make the fluid thicker... Ok, today I had a quick 20minutes to move the civic out then the engine out and then get my Focus out of the shop lol What a PITA it was to roll. And after rolling the civic it is really heavy lol. It was hard to roll because the suspension settled and the tires were rubbing. I had to raise it up more but I am thinking I have to get some different springs in the rear for height... We will see if I can't get it any higher when it is driving. Oh it looks so good. But you can see I have to drop the front strut height lol Look at dat ass. That's it for now. But soon is it will be a terror on the road again RE: Building a Boosted Duratec - zx3kash - 05-13-2014 Looking good. You should really get the svt rear bumper for sale. It would look great on there. RE: Building a Boosted Duratec - Scorcher000 - 05-13-2014 Lol thanks. But I have a Euro rear waiting for paint to go on. RE: Building a Boosted Duratec - Scorcher000 - 05-14-2014 I decided to move the car further back in yard at the shop. Why did they make it sooooo heavy lol. I had to use the truck to move the dam thing around lol. I'm so glad I have the rear camera so I could properly see where the hell the car was going. I had time to lay out the coolant hoses and figure out what I needed to make the SS Braided hoses work. Here is the 10an ss braided hose I had on the coolant line running in behind the intake manifold from the water pump to the water manifold. And the 4an SS Braided line for the fuel regulator. I bought some things the other night too and I have to purchase some more tonight. New Black Housing Headlights UPGR8 Highflow Air Filter Fender Roller More to come still. RE: Building a Boosted Duratec - drunkinmonkey - 05-15-2014 shes getting there johnny boy!! not to much longer eh? what you shooting for, for completion? RE: Building a Boosted Duratec - Scorcher000 - 05-15-2014 Thanks. Ya since it's not making the show. I'm not rushing to slap it in. I'm making sure things are painted and greased. I want it to last the test of my time and maybe make it to my son's or daughter's hands. So really probably July it will be tuned and plated. I have a connection for an address that allows me to have no emissions and cheap insurance too lol. |
