I just got my belt replaced at NikiterZTS's mechanic. Spot on job, no problems whatsoever.
$135 flat. I didn't change my water pump though as I only have 94k...only changed belt for boost precaution.

120'000miles =190'000km?

120,000.0 miles is 200,000.0 Kms.

I just did mine at 223,000.0 kms. if anything you sould have it checked at the tune up milage stated in the owners manuel of 160,000.0 kms, and if it looks like it needs to be replaced then do it.

I checked on Ford.ca under maintenance as to when to replace the timing belt. I read 200,000 kilometers. So.............does anyone know how to do it, and do you have the tools?

The issue is keeping the cams in line while doing it. You need to either buy or make a cam alignment tool.

It is something I have done in the past on other cars, but won't do on my Focus due to the lack of time that I have currently, and the need for a reliable car. I know it took the shop I go to about 3 hours, but that was waterpump and gasket too. They also did a whole whack of AC work on the car at the same time, while they were in the same area.

If you have the time, tools, and the Haynes manual, good luck! Pretty straight forward, just take your time and you should be ok. Figure about 6 hours for a first time, without any troubles (broken or seized bolts, broken stuff, etc.).

I would think it's a matter of moving stuff. out of the way to get at the cover, then taking the belt off. Listen, I've gotten the alternator replacement down to a fine art, last time it took an hour from out to back in.

Then give the timing belt a go! Just make sure those cams don't move... :D

I'll be talking to one of our Durham crew before I do the timing belt. He's done it.
