sometimes, boost isn't enough.

would a turbo off a ford merkur xr4ti with the intake manifold fit on the zetec i found one for $350 with the intake manifold. the xr4ti was a 2.3l do you guys think the 2.0l zetec, if it would fit other then the blow off valve what else would i need to use it, it is only the manifold and the turbo

The Merkur used the 2.3 Lima engine (can you spell Pinto) - so it's doubtful the manifold would match up to the Zetec - but maybe the turbo itself might be useful although it would have to be more than 20 years old now.

Wouldn't it be easier to buy a Zetec from a wrecker, built and boost it in your basement or garage and then swap it out over a weekend ... all the other projects you're describing would take months.

I read the whole damn thread on the "other" site where the guy from Cali did a V8 swap ... and even with the kits available it still took over a year and a half.

i had found engines for cheaper then a turbo/supercharger

sure you did, but factor in all the other costs of swapping said engine into a focus. You will be looking at the same costs as a proper turbo setup. actually the turbo setup may come in cheaper, get better gas mileage and better power to weight ratios
