now my prob with this is, that the pioneer is almost 100 cheaper than the alpine, but i'm looking for somethign that will last, and have never baught ANYTHING pioneer, and trust alpine. The alpine amp is also a V-powe series amp, and can be found at www.alpine-usa.com and the pioneer, on future shop's web site. Thanks guys, any input would be awsome!

This is the first year Pioneer re-vamped the design of there amp. So basicly your buying the new proto-type. Ive hear a few people complain about the pioneer but Alpine Equipment will last for a long time.

I would go Alpine given the choice.

Given Pioneer's penchant for performance, I'd take the Pioneer amp myself.

Brian,

What shop are you thinking about? I went to Bianco's in Sudbury and the guys there were pretty good for Alpine stuff. They even gave me a good deal for a set of 4 Alpine 570 Type S speakers (5x7's) for the focus. 300.00 tax in i beleive.

When I went to Futurescrap, they told me they had one pair of 5x7's in stock and didn't want to budge on the price, plus they were regular Pioneers.

Dude, do yourself a favor, avoid Futurescrap for car audio.

Get a JBL amp. If you want an amp that will drive your sub without breaking a sweat, and also have excellent SQ reproduction. Only thing is, they are pricey compared to the Alpines.

Umm between the two amps your looking at though...I'd choose the Alpine over the Pioneer. Also, you don't want Pioneer 5x7's...at least not the standard series ones. Sure they are stupid loud (or can be), but the SQ isn't there...well, to MY ears anyways...
