He was telling me... a Civic.

But if he does the Civic anything like the Focus, it should be nearly as sweet a car.

I was looking at going used how ever for some reason the bank wont give me a loan for $7000 used car but will give me a loan for $23,000 for a new car. I dont get how banks work at all. Also with used cars having a much higher interest rate the monthly payments still as much as a new car. Will s***!

So now im looking at one of these. The one I was looking at is exact to this picture. I think there really nice cars. Plus the monthly payment is much less then the Focus. Its just an idea rigth now. Not having a car for a day and 1/2 really messed with my schedules.

I how ever did find a 2000 BMW 325 for a super nice price witch I am also looking at.

IT's the equity thing. You mess up on the payments and they reposses a new car they have a shot at getting some of their money back. With a used car? -pfft- fat chance they'll see anything.

That's why I was so freaked about possibly losing my right to drive, after spending $21K on my red rollerskate last April if I got $12K for it now I would consider myself lucky <_<

Will Honda called and approved me. They said I could pick up the above car today at 4:30 but I really am having second thoughts.

I really do need a car

I have the oppurtunity to pick up a really nice car with no co-signer or anything. They offered me to tint the windows for free to and it works out to $187.00 bi-weekly taxes in. Plates are the same as a focus.

Then other side

Create my cushion, save up for bigger down payment to get even cheaper payments.

Ahh decisions.

Simpler than that. Can you get around without a car? and I don't mean just going "point A to point B" I'm talking stuff like shopping etc. if you can, then by all means hold off to build up that down payment. Otherwise bite the bullet and say hello to that new car smell again B)

Yes, everyone does. Do you need a new car? No. Save for a month or so and buy a s***box. I've driven a $50 car for 3 years now. Is it nice"? no. Is it fast? no. Does it cost me anything? no.

Truth is, a $50 car with a no upkeep, care and tons of abuse has lasted me longer, problem free, than my brand new 2002 Focus did. I think you would be wise to just buiild up your funding so that you will never have to worry about buying a car, you can just do it. Sounds to me like you have a good job lined up, so I think you'll be pleasantly surprised how fast you make even more. I'd wait on the car if you can bear it.

hey you can always do what i did after i sold my focus.. pick up a mega cheap old integra toss some azenis sport on it and beat the crap out of it so you can have fun, have a ride and build up your cash cushion at the same time..

actually to be fair, before the mega cheap integra i drove that $200 subaru wagon 2001 ZTS sold me for a while, and then a $300 swapped vw fox for a bit before the integra..

just get a cheapo manual trans car, toss on some azenis and watch the cash roll in while saving for something else..

you could even throw a used motorcycle in the mix when you have some more cash while waiting for your next 'real car' :)

EXACTLY.

I make good coin and am half way to being a millionaire but paying "$187.00 bi-weekly taxes in" on a deprecating asset is stupid dumb on a go forward basis.

I'm sure it will be too late before you listen to any of the good advice you have been given here on FC but you can't fault us for trying.

Really you can't blame a car guy for wanting a car either though. I'd love to just sit and save up some cash, but I always find a reason to buy something, and the reason is it would make the car more fun... lol, stupid car...

Jay, trust me, if anything buy a beater and use that for getting around and save up. Like what Tyler said wait until your 3 months is up at Saktel then decide.

By that time youll find yourself maybe not needing a car as bad as you think, or if that a NEW car.

But if you decide that you want a new car, youll have the 2007's coming out and see what else is out there.

Yeah I seen it at Canadian Tire (Preston Crossing) the other day when I was shopping for more home renos stuff (taps, etc).

Looks VERY VERY DIFFERENT from what I remembered. Those Hellas and rims definitely made a big difference to the car, not like it looks bad now or anything.

Did you get the rims also or no?

I got the 18s with the car, Jason included everything. I have to repair a tire on one of the wheels and fix the bend in the rim before I put them back on the car. I already put the hella tail lights back on the car. I took out and sold the DVD player/touchscreen and the floor install in the hatch. As soon as all my wiring and components arrives I'll be reinstalling the system from my old Focus. I had the car for a week before I realised I never even tried to use a DVD. Actually spent almost 4 hours tonight detailing the car in the service bay at Crappy Tire. I think I might park it for a couple weeks. Hard to resist taking it out though, it's tons of fun to drive.

Quite a few people I work with commented that there were two done up grey Foci in the lot and confused the two cars. I couldn't figure out why the heck people were all asking me about "that spoiler thing on the back of the car" I ran out to see if maybe I had somehow missed a midwing on my car and saw your car out there too.
