Don't forget the small print. Most people don't need service every 3 months or 5000km. You will do just fine going 6 months or 10000km.
It is a money grab. Ford doesn't make money selling cars especialy cars with small margins like the Focus, they make money on financing and service.
Having been there lots, life in Cape Breton is just not as hard on a car as 3 hours of stop and go traffic on the QEW each day or hauling a loaded trailer.
Because of my mixed driving I have always, since day one. split the difference and go 4-1/2 months or 7500km.
Now in your case I think you got your car used? If that is the case it is good to be cautious since you do not know how teh previous owner drove. This time you would be smart to do everything required for severe service at 100,000.
