can anybody show my their car with 17 or 18 inch rims, im in the market and theres a few sets im looking at but i wanna see them on the focus, prefferably the 00~04...rather see a pic without lowering bcuz thats in the future but now yet...

yeah that sits pretty high!! Rims look great i wanna see some 18's i think i might bump it up to 18...

I think Nik will agree that you should drop your focus before you get wheels as they will look a little out of place on a stock hight Focus. I am doing my springs in a few weeks as soonn as I get my licence back from being on a medical suspension.

I would suggest 17"s over the 18"s if you want to keep some sort of ride quality. From what I have heard, 18's with a low profile tire leave you with very little comfort over the rougher roads.

Post some pic's of what you are looking at for wheel choices.

I wouldn't go any lower than 215/40R17 on the roads we have here.

WIth that said, you can likely run 18s on a stock-height car. A dropped car with 18s will need the fenders rolled to accomodate the wider tire/rim combo without damaging anything.

i m running 215 35 18 and about 1.5" drop and no problem.
and my wheels are 18 x 7.5 ET45

new wheels are coming from England and they are 18 x 7.5 ET38, this may or may not need fender rolled.

18s on the left, 17s on the right.

If the tires are sized properly, they should have the identical overall diameter as the stock setup to maintain the correct speedometer reading. If you choose the same offset wheel and a 205mm wide tire, then the space the the tire/wheel combo take up in the wheel well will be exactly identical to the stock setup. A 215mm wide tire should also fit.

The critical point here is the offset (the vertical relationship between the outer edge of the wheel and the point where the wheel is connected to the hub.)

The difference between the 18 and 17 inch diamter wheel is then the tire sidewall height. The shorter tire sidewall height used on the 18 inch wheel will produce less side to side deflection but will give you a much harsher ride.

The difference in the above cars is noted when the red car has to negotiate a railroad crossing at a crawl and the blue car has to only slow slightly to pass.

Eibach Prokit ~ 1.5" drop

205/45-ZR17 tires on 17 x 7 wheels

dblast couldnt have asked for a better explanation ... i might go with the 17 over 18 and i have coilovers already but not on...just deciding on rims first...thanks for the help!!
