How do you stop clear coat peeling on wheels?
#1
I bought a used set of factory 17 inch SES wheels (2009). They still look pretty good, but I noticed that some of the clear coat is peeling.

I googled this, and only found people who said you have to strip the wheel completely, and recoat.

Is there a way just to stop it getting any worse?

i would try a couple of coats of wax but a refinish will probably be the only thing that will stop it so good luck to u

If it's only the clear coat and not the actual paint you could wet sand then respray more clear coat on them.
I know dupli-color sells the wheel paint in a clear at Canadian Tire.

you can try wet sanding it and re-clearing as castone suggested, but I havent seen a job like that come out looking good ever. best is to strip clean and start from scratch, waxing wont do anything at all.
